A documentary about the common noctule bat—one of the largest bats in Europe. Its impressive wingspan, exceeding 40 centimeters, is rarely admired. It lives far from humans, in the treetops. It spends its days in colonies organized by gender, in trees in forests, or sometimes on field margins. The filmmakers want to discover how to manage forests to protect these creatures. Our knowledge about them is limited, and scientists admit that many questions surround this little-known species. They are trying to determine, among other things, its habitat, how it hunts, and why it is endangered. The filmmakers spent about two years supporting scientific research, presenting the bat in its natural habitat. Using discreet infrared cameras, they were able to capture the secrets of its life.
