The Andorian Imperial Guard existed before Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets. It contributed much in the way of development in its founding, including the beginnings of phaser technology and their powerful Kumari class starship. Made to rival the Vulcans and ward of Klingon and Tellarite aggression, this battleship was made famous by Captain Shran's Kumari, first of her line as seen in Star Trek Enterprise.
