Thursday at 8:00 PM The Order of the Templars, founded by Hugh de Payens, is present in our collective imagination. Beyond the external order, there was an inner circle of "Knights of the Grail" who celebrated their "Mysteries" in Toledo. It was not a military order protecting Christians in the Crusades – the founders were "guardians of Sophia." Behind the scenes of the cathedral, there was an "arcane college" that supported the School of Translators of Toledo, shedding light on the culture of medieval Europe and stimulating dialogue between three traditions (Christian-Jewish-Islamic). In its initial phase, the Templars had a base in France and another in Toledo (Spain), a "philosophical and arcane school" that brought together Arabic philosophy, Neoplatonism, the Grail, and Magic, where two of the order's founders (Juan Hispano and Gundisalvo) worked between 1127 and 1181. And they had a link with the Cistercian order. In the original group of the Order of the Temple were minds-souls who had a connection with Eastern traditions, such as Sufism and Ismailism. In their "inner core," the interest was more in Metaphysics and Cosmology than in "holy wars"—they were guardians of the "Sanctuary of Light."
