How to make a Greek shield with cardboard
Greek phalanx used big round shields called Aspis, that protected the hoplites in the closed combat. In this video you can see how to create a Greek aspis shield out of old carboard boxes and paper mache. Firstly you need to build a mould to give the shield a curved shape. Secondly, it start the making of the shield itself. Finally, the decoration. It is not an historically accurate reconstruction, since it doesn't use the same techniques and materiales that the Ancient Greeks used, but the final appeal is similar to the real Greek shields.
