I Didn’t Know What My Paintings Meant… Until Years Later

For years, I painted eyes without fully understanding why. People often asked what they meant. Were they the third eye? The evil eye? Some kind of mystical symbol? The truth is, for a long time, I didn’t know the answer myself. Looking back after my conversion to Christianity and entering the Catholic Church, I realized these paintings had been telling a story long before I could explain it. They weren’t about hidden knowledge or esoteric symbolism—they were about one of the deepest longings of the human heart: the desire to be fully seen. In this video, I share how my faith reshaped my understanding of my own artwork, why the recurring eyes throughout my paintings took on new meaning, and how a passage from the Book of Ezekiel unexpectedly illuminated years of my artistic journey.
