Then in 2017 a construction worker near Mardin in southeastern Turkey hit carved stone with a backhoe and when archaeologists arrived they understood immediately this was not an ordinary find. What the soil was giving up was evidence that Göbekli Tepe, the site that shattered everything, was not the beginning of the story. It was somewhere in the middle. Something older was sitting in the same region, and the question that forces into the open is the one that mainstream archaeology has been quietly avoiding since Göbekli Tepe first appeared. If the timeline was already wrong by eleven thousand years, how much further back does it actually go. This one in my opinion is the discovery that should be getting far more attention than it currently is.
