A day exploring the wonderful city of Carcassonne, a dream place. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, it now welcomes more than two million visitors a year. Carcassonne (or Carcasona) holds so many mysteries that we wouldn't want to leave these walls. We recommend visiting the city for at least a couple of days, as there is so much to see. Spend halfday at the castle, take a leisurely tour, enjoy the views, and then continue to the cathedral or the Inquisition Museum. This fortified citadel has only 50 inhabitants.
