AFRICA ADR CONFERENCE 2026 Theme: Positioning Africa as a Hub for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Practice: Building Capacity, Recognition, Credibility and Economic Impact Date: 17th – 18th June 2026 Time: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM GMT Daily Venue: Virtual (Zoom Platform) Organisers: Africa Centre for Collaborative Dispute Resolution (AfCCoDR) In Collaboration with the Association of Conflict, Peace and Security Experts in Africa (ACPSEA) under the leadership of Isaac Asare, the Founder and President of both institutions. 1. Background Africa is experiencing unprecedented economic growth, increasing cross-border trade, foreign direct investment, regional integration, and technological advancement. Initiatives such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) have created significant opportunities for economic development while simultaneously increasing the potential for commercial, investment, community, and cross-border disputes. Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), including mediation, arbitration, negotiation, conciliation, and other collaborative dispute resolution mechanisms, has emerged globally as an efficient, cost-effective, and relationship-preserving means of resolving disputes. Across Africa, ADR continues to gain recognition as governments, businesses, institutions, and communities seek more accessible and culturally responsive approaches to conflict management and dispute resolution. Despite this progress, several challenges remain, including limited institutional capacity, inadequate professional recognition, varying regulatory frameworks, insufficient public awareness, and the need to strengthen the credibility and visibility of African ADR practitioners and institutions within the global dispute resolution landscape. The Africa ADR Conference 2026 seeks to address these challenges by bringing together leading ADR practitioners, academics, policymakers, peacebuilders, legal professionals, business leaders, researchers, and development partners to explore practical strategies for positioning Africa as a global hub for ADR practice and innovation.
