Towards a Corridor for the Sustainable Use of Materials – Insights from Industrial Ecology Research

20-25% of global GHG are only for material production only, rising trend, technologies are poor/expensive/slow to decarbonize. Our metal use only works because environmental and social standards hardly play a role in many mining countries. A systemic approach for less primary production is needed, through interlocking measures across all steps of the metal cycles: product design, building regulations, alloy spectrum, waste management.
