Princess Royal Film workshop: In March 2020 (the time of the virus) I was encouraged to put together some notes on a jig to the old tune Princess Royal. This tune is one of the most popular jig tunes in the Morris repertoire and one I have danced to for more than 40 years. You can look on this as an instructional but it is not that. It hopefully gives you the basics, music, steps and an outline of how the jig has been performed in the past and how it can look now. Most will think it presumptuous for a near 70-year-old to demonstrate dance but it is just an illustration of form and I still very much enjoy performing when I get the chance. My very real thanks to all those who allowed me to include their material. I could say it is all my own work …. but we all have something to learn from others and I have plenty to learn.
