Searching for traces at an old place of worship After we had visited the Bärenstein Midsummer Nights in the Ore Mountains again, we followed an invitation from Steff, Felix and Michi, who we had already met in Bärenstein last year. Steff had aroused our curiosity with his description of an old place of worship in the immediate vicinity of their home in the eastern Ore Mountains, and so after the festival we followed the three of them to Oelsa Rabenau, a village near the town of Dippoldiswalde. Both are located in a region where pagan Slavs had settled up until the 12th century. The Götzenbüsche - sometimes also called "Götzenbüschchen" or just "Götzenbusch" - are located about 700 m west of Oelsa on a rather inconspicuous ridge. Today's natural monument is partly on private property and is officially not allowed to be entered in its entirety. However, if you walk around, you get a fairly good insight into the conditions of this former cult site.
