Vasyl Vovkun is a Ukrainian director, screenwriter, culturologist, professor, People's Artist of Ukraine, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine in 2007-2010. Since March 2017, he has been the general director and artistic director of the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. He was able to transform the Lviv Opera from a theater-museum into a modern art space. He was awarded the Order of Merit of the 2nd and 3rd degrees. After the Russian invasion, the Lviv Opera was one of the first among Ukrainian theaters to resume its work.
