Dark Chester - The Coffin in the Wall

St John’s Church, Chester, has been a place of spiritual retreat and learning since the Anglo-Saxon times. Its spindly ruins, wrapped around a working church, remain to the day a deeply atmospheric place to feel the ancient spirits swirl around you. But it’s also home to one of Chester’s greatest mysteries: the coffin in the wall. Who was the original occupant of the coffin and why was it placed there?
