Doctor Al Himber, a brilliant robotic scientist, is the prime suspect. A robot has gone missing from each planet he visited during a lecture tour. As a precaution, Professor Matic attaches a tracking device to Robert the robot his own mechanical creation. Sure enough, after speaking at Space City, Himber reprograms Robert to hijack Fireball XL1 and travel to Robotvia, a planet of robots. Steve Zodiac, Venus and Matt follow in Fireball XL5. Soon after landing, they are taken prisoner, put on trial, and sentenced to a lifetime of mending busted robots. Can the brave crew of XL5 escape and rescue Robert? This is a color animated remake of the UK children’s show Fireball XL5, created by Gerry & Sylvia Anderson, which featured marionettes. Produced by AP Films and distributed by ITC Entertainment, it appeared on US television from 1963-1965 on NBC. Voices, sound effects and music are from the original TV broadcast.
