[FEB 2026] :Scholarly Communication: Academic & Research Proposal Writing & Open Science

On February 23, 2026, TCC Africa’s trainer, Dr. Nicholas Outa, led the first day of an engaging training session on Scholarly Communication, Academic & Research Proposal Writing, and Open Science. The session focused on the foundations of research proposal development, guiding participants through the process of conceptualizing research ideas, identifying research problems, and developing strong research proposals. Key topics covered included the use of problem trees to define research problems, identifying knowledge gaps in existing literature, developing SMART research objectives, formulating research questions and hypotheses, distinguishing between justification and significance, and conducting literature reviews as a process of synthesis rather than summary. Participants also explored proposal structure, feasibility considerations, and aligning research objectives with appropriate methodologies.
