Um trabalhador de multinacional produz o equivalente a 17 outros trabalhadores brasileiros

A worker at a multinational company in Brazil produces the same as 17 workers at national companies. I repeat: SEVENTEEN. This is the data that should be at the center of all debates about the country's future. Foreign companies employ only 3.2% of our workforce, but generate 35% of our GDP. This is not a miracle. It is the power of technology, efficient machines, modern management techniques and, above all, an open economy. While Asia rode the wave of globalization and became rich (South Korea, which had a per capita income similar to ours in 1980, now has an income 3 times higher), Brazil chose to close itself off. The result is there: stubbornly low productivity. Opening up the economy does not mean "destroying national industry" but rather attracting investments, technology and know-how that raise the bar for EVERYONE. Rich countries did not become rich by hiding from the world, but by competing in it. The question that remains is not how to "protect" Brazil, but how long will we continue to pay the very high price of keeping Brazil closed and underdeveloped?
