Until now, there has been little information available about Master Ted Wong in Japan. We asked Yutaka Matsuoka (founder of Tiny Dragon), who studied under Wong until his final years, to share the truth about Jeet Kune Do. ●Tiny Dragon Jeet Kune Do Training Center http://www.tinydragon.jp/ ☆Profile ●Yutaka Matsuoka In 1980, he first experienced Jeet Kune Do at the legendary Shinagawa Derby Mansion rooftop Jeet Kune Do school (founded by Yukihiro Araki). He was a regular member at the time. Later, he questioned the "concept" theory that "Jeet Kune Do is about training in various martial arts and creating one's own unique martial arts style." While searching for specific methods of Bruce Lee, he learned of the founding of "Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Nucleus," which advocates and defines "originality" rather than "concept," and traveled to the United States. He was impressed by the skill and character of Nucleus board member Ted Wong and decided to become his disciple. Since then, he has spent extended periods in the United States every year, receiving numerous private lessons from Ted Wong (his master). He also accompanied his master to seminars within the US. Simultaneously, he dedicated himself to inviting his master to Japan for seminars. In October 2000, he was certified as a Jeet Kune Do instructor by Master Ted Wong. Since then, he has traveled to the US annually to receive lessons, primarily sparring, from Master Wong, and has received his support as a mentor.
