What You Actually Need for Sketching on a Trip

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday! Packing for a sketching trip means wanting it all while keeping it compact and light. I'll walk you through exactly what I pack for my workshop trips, so you can travel with just what you need. From choosing the right sketchbook size to managing fountain pen ink on flights, I cover the practical stuff that makes a real difference. Plus a couple of bonus tips at the end, including one that might help you keep it even simpler. Check out my workshop schedule to join me on one of my upcoming art workshop trips! koosjekoene.com/workshops Bonus tip: when flying with fountain pens, make sure they are fully filled, so no air can be pushed out when the cabin pressure changes. Don't use them during the flight, and especially not when taking off and landing. You could also wrap them in paper towel an/or in a ziplock bag in case you're afraid they may leak. I never had any trouble with any of my fountain pens myself. To be safe, on a flight don't use brushpens like Pentel Color Brushpens, and also Posca paint markers. I've heard stories of inky hands and clothes on flights!
