Biking in Lund, Sweden 4K (Test #1)
This is a test of my DJI Osmo Action 3 camera mounted directly on the handlebar of my bicycle. I recorded this short test while biking to work today (around 8 in the morning) mainly because I wanted to see how the cameras stabilisation would handle the bumby cobblestone roads of Lund. I kept the camera mounted to the handlebar throughout the entire video, but decided to walk a few times to test how that looked like. Camera settings: Resolution: 4K/16:9, Frame Rate: 50, Stabilisation: RockSteady+, Exposure: Auto, WB: AWB, Color: D-CLike, FOV: Standard (Dewarp). Rendering: I downloaded the 4 ~3.5GB files from the camera and added them to Davinci Resolve in succession. I then applied a LUT (Ground Control - Cinelike-D to Rec709) and thats it - no more color correction even if I wanted to. The audio was not edited in any way. I first tried to render using the default YouTube presets in Resolve, but the result was noticeable compressed. So instead I went for the custom export option with MP4, H.265 and Quality/Automatic/Best that looked much better, but resulted in a larger file size (about double). Instead of using the automatic/best option, one way is to use the restrict option and set the Kb/s to [double the frame rate x1000] wich should have been 100000 Kb/s (2x50x1000) for this video, but I went for the automatic option this time. Stuff I learned for the next video of this type: Plan a route ahead of filming. I re-visited the same place twice and thats not great. But again - this was mainly a test of the camera. Film during lunch-time (or early evening) instead. Having the sun directly into the camera will require some editing in order to look good. You can clearly see my shadow a couple of times as well. Perhaps invest in a cheap noise-reduction thing. Even though it's possible to remove a lot of the unwanted audio (wind and road noise among other things) in editing, it would be easier to simply not having to deal with that at all. Figure out why the audio went completely silent for a few seconds at around 01:55. This was not something I did by mistake while editing - the first source file is completetly silent for the last couple of seconds.
