A Trip To Butler Peak Fire Lookout And Crafts Peak. Easy Off-road Trail In Big Bear CA
I was surprised to see the gate open for Snow Slide Trail - 2N13 the last time I was up in Big Bear. This is a trail I've been trying to do since last summer, but Every time I drove by the gate it was locked. The trail is the main access to the butler peak fire lookout tower. It's a well known attraction in the are that allows for spectacular 360 degree views from the peak. Unfortunately when I got to the tower it was closed. The ranger told me that it's still under repair from the strong storm that hit the area back in 2018. So I decided to go check out crafts peak to the west and see if My out of shape ass could make the climb to the summit.
