UNM Gun Triple Offense (2016)

In our first video we are highlighting the Gun Triple Offense ran at UNM from 2012-2019. Head Coach Bob Davie and Offensive Coordinator Bob DeBesse ran the Gun Triple Offense that helped turn around a struggling program. Thier tenure included a notable 9–4 season in 2016, during which New Mexico won the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. During the 2016 season, UNM lead the NCAA in rushing yards. The Gun Triple Option Offense blends traditional triple option principles with shotgun spread formations. It retains the core option elements—dive, keep, and pitch—but adapts them for a modern look that stresses defenses horizontally and vertically. UNM specifically, focused on running inside zone, with different formations, motions, personal groupings to give them the triple option principals. Instead of always pitching to a trailing back like in the Flexbone, the Gun Triple uses: Running back pitch, H-back arrow route, bubble screen, swing pass or orbit. If you want to learn more in depth or want more info, watch the following video where Coach DeBesse gives a clinic talk over the offense.    • DeBesse the Modern Triple Option New Looks...
