LAMPIÃO E A MORTE DE CHICO CHICOTE - A TRAGÉDIA DAS GUARIBAS

After spreading the news that they were on the trail of Virgulino Ferreira da Silva, Lampião, the King of Cangaço, and his gang of cangaceiros, a group of three Flying Police Forces—one from Pernambuco, one from Ceará, and another from Paraíba—assisted by civilians, surrounded and attacked the farm. After thirty-one hours of intense gunfire, they managed to eliminate the brave, valiant, and feared Chico Chicote and some of his supporters. The "Guaribas Fire" took place on February 1, 1927, at the Guaribas Farm, owned by Colonel Francisco Pereira de Lucena, known as "Chico Chicote," located between the municipalities of Porteiras and Brejo Santo in the state of Ceará.
