Fête des cuisinières de la Guadeloupe. 107 ans d'histoire.

Despite the bad weather coupled with heavy rain that could have compromised everything, the traditional parade of cooks was held this Saturday, August 12, 2023. Every year, in August, for St. Lawrence, patron saint of cooks, these keepers of the Guadeloupean culinary art, dressed in their most beautiful traditional costumes, adorned with their most beautiful jewels, go in procession to Mass at the church of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul. After the church, as tradition wants, the cooks of Guadeloupe walked the main streets of the city of Pointe-à-Pitre. A musical parade during which the beautiful "popottes" distributed traditional cakes, homemade sweets and fruit to a large audience and massed all along the way. This new edition has a particular emphasis since the Association of cooks of Guadeloupe has blown out its 107 candles. And 107 years is quite a story.
