See https://www.coppersmithstudios.com/a_... for further explanation. Panthertown valley is a 7000 acre recreational area in Western North Carolina. Sometimes referred to as the Yosemite of the East, it attracts 35,000 visitors per year who come to go hiking, backpacking, site seeing and for a few, trout fishing. The 3 main streams are Panthertown Creek, Greenland Creek and the Tuskasegee River. Panthertown and Greenland resemble something from the upper Midwest with a slow current, sandy bottom and lots of woody debris. The Tuskasegee starts out placid but soon turns into a whitewater stream with waterfalls and plunge pools. All 3 streams feature the Southern Appalachian brook trout. I recommend seeing the Friends of Panthertown Valley website to learn more about the access and hiking opportunities if you are going to visit here.
