Galio was conceptualized around being a Magic Resist scaling champion with a primary focus on beating magic damage, but his old iteration was laughably bad at doing so, outside of the sole exception of his ultimate. Following his rework though he's become one of the most effective tanks in the game with a lot more agency and playmaking potential.
