Easton Carbon EC90 SL Crankset on a Brompton - 781 Project - DIY Brompton Crankset Installation
As an Easton fanboy, I would really like to integrate their parts if I can to our beloved Brompton, riding this setup for 5 months now and so far I am very happy with the performance, something different from THM and EEwing which are all great and looks lovely with Brompton. Replacing my ever-reliable Token Titanium Ceramic Bottom Brackets and Brompton original crankset with 56T Ridea oval chainrings with a total of 760 grams, this is still my backup setup if this project doesn't work, I am always happy to put this back just in case. One of the challenges in installing Easton EC90 SL is having to find a lightweight spider and chainrings as it comes with CINCH technology, which is the same for Raceface cranksets, checked with Fiberlyte, Lightworks but due to low demand they are not doing carbon chainrings for Easton Cinch in bigger chainrings the only one willing to help that can customize a carbon chainring with spider is Digirit but they do not do oval in this size, Binghambuilt has a 110BCD spider for Easton but it also comes in alloy 67g which is more than the original Easton spider, since I am very happy with my old Ridea 56T oval chainrings I ordered the 4 bolt 110BCD version and partnered it with Easton alloy spider, combined weight is around 210 Grams with 4 Ridea chainring bolts which is not that much, since I know and tested Ridea chainrings I did go for this setup and still happy I did. Below are the items installed in this 781 project. Easton EC90 SL CRANKARMS (363 grams) - The EC90 SL crank utilizes the Race Face CINCH technology which allows for direct mount 1x rings as well as direct mount 2x spiders, and industry-leading versatility. Increasingly popular 1x setups have many advantages including weight and simplicity. Easton ROAD SPIDER (56 grams) - Utilizing the versatility of the CINCH system, Easton offers spiders with a 45mm chain line optimized for modern road bike hub spacing. Ridea Lami-Flow R4-91 Chainring W0T 56T(141 grams) - Lami·Flow R4-91 unique design creates a laminar flow to reduce drag, with the air passing through the interior and exterior of the chainring, helping you to keep your momentum while retaining the legendary stiffness of Ridea chainrings. Ridea BB30 Carbon Bottom Bracket (79 Grams) - Ridea 6CBB Gecko Grip #CN B30 30 is the ultimate solution for creaky Press-Fit systems. An easy-to-install bottom bracket made with the last Ridea technology in Forged Carbon and the exclusive Gecko Grip to assure you smooth and silent rides. #CN B30 30 is compatible with BB30 frames.
