The history of a family business from Eindhoven, which grew into the largest producer of guitars in Europe in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1960 they build a new modern factory in Best where 200,000 guitars are made annually. But like other Western brands, Egmond has experienced a huge decline due to the import of cheap instruments from Asia. The Egmond family collapsed and in 1972 the factory became the plaything of a large international trading company: Tolchin. In the mid-1970s, C.F. Martin to cooperation with European manufacturers such as the Swedish Levin. Martins are also made in the Egmond factory in Best under the name: Vega Guitars, made by Martin in The Netherlands.
