A mathematician, who graduated from the University of Pisa and completed a postgraduate course at the Scuola Normale Superiore, he has been at the University of Parma since 2009. He conducts research in complex and differential geometry and is interested in electoral mathematics and mathematics education. Since 2005, he has been actively involved in outreach, for teachers, students, and the general public, with the aim of introducing mathematics and changing its reputation as a dry and technical subject. He enjoys disseminating knowledge through comics, games, and other unconventional means. In 2017, he contributed to a story that appeared in Topolino, and since 2020, he has been active on YouTube and Instagram as "a mathematician on loan to Disney."
