Shamatha et bienveillance (2/4) - François Schick - 18.05.2025

We often talk about breath as an aid to meditation, but less frequently about love and compassion. Yet, these mental functions are perfectly capable of supporting the development of concentration. But when we meditate on the breath, we focus on an object that seems external, so how do we do it with love? Since love resides within our minds, how do we do it? During this workshop, we will use loving-kindness as the object of meditation and practice the steps involved in immersing our minds in a feeling of love. This is an opportunity to understand how to meditate on our emotions, but also to delve into such an important theme in the world we live in. François Schick is certified by the FPMT. He completed the five-year Advanced Buddhist Studies Program (PEBA) at Nalanda Monastery, followed by a three-month solitary retreat in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Since then, he has alternated periods of study and teaching with spiritual retreats (including a six-month individual retreat in 2022 in the Alps, focusing on mental calm and concentration). He has taught, among other things, "Discovering Buddhism," "Science of Mind," and "Caring for the Planet." François Schick is appreciated for his rigorous yet modern, accessible, and engaging teaching approach.
