Every Heartbeat Matters with Dr Irene Mbwavi
During our recent 2-day CHD Interventional Camp at Avenue Hospital Cathlab, 19 patients successfully underwent minimally invasive, life-changing procedures, reducing the need for open-heart surgery and improving patient outcomes. In Kenya, an estimated 5,000–6,000 children are born with congenital heart disease every year, making awareness, timely diagnosis, and access to specialized treatment more important than ever. A diagnosis of congenital heart disease is not a death sentence. With the right intervention and care, children and adults living with CHD can go on to lead healthy, fulfilling, and normal lives.
