God says He is planning judgment against them. “You shall have no one to cast the line by lot in the assembly of the Lord.” The message: God sees when the powerful take advantage of the weak. Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 10:1-4, 7-8, 14 ; Response: Do not forget the poor, O Lord “Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? The helpless commits himself to you; you have been the helper of the fatherless.” It’s a cry that God hasn’t forgotten those who are oppressed. Gospel: Matthew 12:14-21; Behold, my servant whom I have chosen The Pharisees plot to kill Jesus. He withdraws and continues healing. Matthew shows this fulfills Isaiah: He will not break a bruised reed or quench a smoldering wick, till he brings justice to victory.” Jesus brings justice, but not with force — with gentleness and healing. Saturday is dedicated to Mary by a Mass or Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Through these liturgical acts, Christians exalt the person of Mary in the action that renews the sacrifice of Christ.
