Horses Explained: The Horse’s Hooves

We’ve all heard the expression ‘no foot, no horse’ but what is really going on inside your horse’s hooves? This week Nicole is joined by farrier Jay Tovey to discuss the specialised structures of the equine hoof, whether horses need shoes and how to meet the needs of hooves within our day-to-day management of horses. Guest bio - Jay Tovey completed his apprenticeship and passed the Diploma of the WCF in 1996. He passed the Associate WCF in 2013 and then went on to pass the highest exam, Fellowship of the WCF in 2017. In 2018, Jay was appointed as a WCF examiner.
