One of our customers recently brought in a 48RE transmission that he had a local "other guy" put together, but then brought it to Tier One when he became suspicious of the craftsmanship. Good thing he did, because this thing is a mess. Used parts, mismatched clutches, steels-on-steels, and bearing grease instead of assembly lube made this particular 48RE transmission a ticking time bomb.
