When I went looking for an assembly video for the IKEA Billy bookcase with foldable table (model 005.797.55) — I couldn't find one anywhere. So I built it myself and filmed the whole thing. A few things worth knowing before you start: This bookcase does not work well on carpet — the table mechanism has wheels that need a hard floor It's doable solo but a second pair of hands helps for about 20 minutes when uprighting the main structure The foldable table surface holds up to 55 lbs Allow more time than you think if you're managing energy carefully — and that is completely okay I found two Billy bookcases on Facebook Marketplace for $25 each and bought the Oxberg doors new — so the whole unit cost significantly less than retail.
