Sale Athée Aiguille du Moine
After a bivouac on the éperon des géographes under the Charpoua hut, we climbed Sale Athée (350m, 7b/c) on Aiguille du Moine, first ascended by François Pallandre, Richard Perez in 1997. For Chamonix, the route is very steep and features many clean crack systems (meaning not layback cracks). The grade has sparked some debate; while it is consistent with crack grades in the area, it would feel very soft for climbers accustomed to crack climbing (crack pitches would not exceed 6b instead of 7a+)
