What is Driver Disorientation Syndrome? Driving, particularly on highways, can be uncomfortable for patients with chronic dizziness. Occasionally, patients report a sensation that the car is tilting or veering to one side. This sensation can be convincing because such patients often seek a mechanic or change cars before seeking medical attention. "Driver Disorientation Syndrome" also appears to be, at least in part, visually determined, because patients describe problems in areas of visual deprivation (the top of a hill or bridge) and in visually challenging conditions (simultaneously passing and being passed by a car).
