Drawing a Neural Network Diagram in TikZ (Unlocking LaTeX Graphics Ep 72) In this episode of Unlocking LaTeX Graphics, applied mathematician Tammy Kolda shows how to draw a fully connected feed-forward artificial neural network diagram in LaTeX using pure TikZ. Building on tools from earlier episodes, she creates five layers of neurons with labeled nodes using foreach loops with PGF math to compute consistent x/y spacing, then connects layers with arrowed edges and a global edge style. She adds colored background regions for the input, hidden, and output layers using fitted nodes, a style with arguments, and the backgrounds library, and places titles over each region. She demonstrates how changing layer sizes and spacing macros automatically updates node placement, edges, and fitted boxes, then highlights a path through the network and labels selected weights.
