Located just off the coast of Hiroshima, the island is famous for the iconic Itsukushima Shrine and its “floating” torii gate, which appears to rise from the sea during high tide. Considered a sacred island for centuries, Miyajima has long been associated with Shinto worship and was carefully preserved to maintain its spiritual purity. The shrine itself dates back to the 12th century, largely shaped by the powerful warlord Taira no Kiyomori, and is now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Consider Supporting us on: 📌 Youtube Memberships:    / @pinnedonplaces   📌 Buy me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/pinnedon... 📌 Instagram:   / pinnedonplaces   📌 Website: https://www.pinnedonplaces.com 📌 Quibity E-SIM: https://quibity.com/?coupon=PINNED Get 15% your order when you enter PINNED into the Coupon Redemption box.
