He explained that he wasn't going to say anything until Kanye challenged the room at TMZ's offices. Even though Van understood what Kanye was trying to say with his "slavery was a choice" remarks, he still felt the rapper viewed slaves as weak while he viewed them as signs of strength. He revealed that he spoke to Kanye after their verbal exchange and Kanye even invited him to his home to continue their discussion.
