Özgür Özel, the newly elected leader of the New Party (YENİ Parti), visited Anıtkabir with members of the Party Council (PM), the High Disciplinary Board (YDK), and members of parliament. Signing the Anıtkabir Special Register, Özel stated, "Our goal is to build a free, independent, democratic, just, and prosperous Turkey together with our nation, inspired by you and the fundamental principles of our Republic. The task of protecting your besieged legacy is entrusted to the cadres of the New Party." Özgür Özel, who resigned from the CHP yesterday and was elected the leader of the New Party, visited Anıtkabir with members of the PM, YDK, and members of parliament before today's PM meeting to determine the members of the party's Central Executive Board (MYK). After laying a wreath of red and white flowers bearing the inscription "New Party" at Atatürk's mausoleum and observing a moment of silence, the delegation led by Özel proceeded to the Misak-ı Milli Tower. Signing the Anıtkabir Special Register, Özel wrote the following: "Today, we are here before you with the members of the Founding Board of our NEW Party, whose establishment we completed with the opportunities provided by your greatest work, the Republic. Unfortunately, our Republic, which you entrusted to us, is facing multiple crises today. The policies of a political party in power, which suppress democracy, undermine the rule of law, disrupt economic and social justice, and personalize state administration, have dragged our country and nation into severe difficulties. To rescue Turkey from this environment of multiple crises, and to properly protect all your works that have been damaged, disrespected, and even taken captive, we have started a new march by establishing our NEW Party. Our compass and only guarantee on this path is our nation. Our goal is to build a free, independent, democratic, just, and prosperous Turkey together with our nation, inspired by you and the fundamental principles of our Republic. Özgür Özel and those accompanying him then laid flowers at the tomb of İsmet İnönü, the Second President of the Republic of Turkey, and observed a moment of silence.
