Severn Valley Railway: Autumn Steam Gala: 20th & 21st of September 2024

The Severn Valley railway would once again host its annual Autumn Steam Gala in September between the dates of the 19th and 22nd of September 2024. As with previous SVR galas, the majority of the railway’s regular fleet was in action, alongside three visiting locomotives which served as the main attractions. Visiting for the first time in over thirty years was ex-LMS/BR Jubilee no. '45596, Bahamas' during another scout of England away from its usual base on the KWVR. However, a more interesting visitor, in my opinion, was ex-LMS/BR Black Five 5MT no. '44932' from WCRC. As a locomotive exclusive to the mainline, it was a particularly exciting draw for me. And finally, ex-L&YR/LMS/NCB 0-6-0 no. '11456' was put to work on shuttle duties between Bridgnorth and Hampton Loade, then Highley to Kidderminster and return.
