New bike, 100 mile (almost) Adventure, Bike packing on a Brompton. Wiltshire Man
Yes I brought a ?.........Brompton! It was an expensive outlay but overtime the bike wil pay for it's self. I intend to use this bike for: Trips to the shops which would have been taken in the car. The luggage options of the Brompton with the T bag means I can carry a few days shopping in one go and not only that I can fold the bike up and take it into the shop with me so noone can nick it!!! The bike that is! Longer journeys and overnight camps are possible thanks to the back rack and the ability to load a conventional rucksack on the back. The bike is a real Mule and can carry a big load! Imagine a situation where I may use public transport to get to some remote corner of the UK or the globe even, then unpack the bike and ride...Maybe I'm being fanciful, maybe the elites will have locked the world down by then, but if not I would like to jump on a train up to Scotland, then ride around up there for a bit, fold the bike up, jump on a train back home down to Wilthire. A folding bike like the Brompton opens up all these possibilities and more! I am really impressed with how this bike rides, my friend Dave and myself took our Bromptons on some fairly uneven and rough ground too. The bikes coped OK with this but perhaps not as well as a proper MTB would, so it's just another option I now have at my disposal!:) Cycling is also a lifestyle change I am making for myself as I become an older person. I consider myself fortunate to still enjoy good health and this is something I am keen to try and maintain for as long as possible. I believe a little cycling may well be the way forward for me. Thanks for watching and reading this. Sandy
