Yamaha SG 2000S 1982 First Run Deep Green
An extraordinarily rare and highly playable 1982 Yamaha SG-2000S, finished in the elusive Dark Green Metallic, one of the hardest colors to find in the entire SG series production. This guitar comes from the first year of SG-2000S production and remains complete with its original Yamaha hardshell case! The SG-2000S represented Yamaha’s premium evolution of the legendary SG platform, combining the sustain and authority of the SG-2000 with a refined aesthetic package featuring gold hardware, elegant cosmetics and outstanding Japanese craftsmanship. Built during Yamaha’s golden era, these instruments rivaled and often surpassed contemporary American production in terms of build quality, consistency and attention to detail. What immediately sets this example apart is the stunning Dark Green finish. Depending on the light, it shifts from a deep emerald green to almost black, beautifully contrasted by the gold hardware, ebony fingerboard and multi-ply binding. It is one of those colors that photographs well but is even more striking in person. The guitar shows honest signs of use accumulated over more than four decades, including finish checking and cosmetic wear on the back, all consistent with a well-loved vintage instrument!
