Ayodhya Ram Mandir Donation Case | Police Question Former Trust Official

The investigation into the misuse of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh has intensified. Police recorded the statement of Champat Rai, former general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, gathering key details related to the alleged theft of donations, though the specifics were not disclosed publicly. The UP government had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on June 13, which found serious violations in donation counting and security protocols, including missing security checks, unpreserved CCTV footage, and gross negligence in managing the locks of donation boxes. Based on the SIT's report submitted on June 23, an FIR was registered on June 25, leading to the arrest of eight individuals connected to the donation counting process, with nearly ₹80 lakh in cash and some foreign currency recovered from six of the accused.
