Miracle in Udupi! Temple Vigraha Turned for a Devotee

Udupi Shree Krishna Matha This temple's vigraha turned towards a devotee. Yes, we are now in Udupi, and I'm talking about Udupi Shree Krishna Matha, one of the most auspicious temples dedicated to God Krishna. This temple is more than 700 years old. In fact, it is not a single temple; it's a temple complex with many temples near this matha or temple. the speciality here is Devotees need to peep through a small 9-hole window called Kanakana Kindi to get darshan. The history of Kanakana Kindi goes like this: In the 16th century, Hindu saint Kanakadasa was denied entry to the Krishna temple due to his lower caste status. In response, Kanakadasa stood behind the temple, sang a song praising God Krishna, and miraculously, the vigraha moved and rotated itself towards Kanakadasa, creating a big hole in the wall. The hole, through which Kanakadasa saw the vigraha, still exists today and is known as the Kanakana Kindi. The Kanakana Kindi belief is a powerful reminder of the importance of devotion and the power of faith. It also serves as a reminder that caste and social divisions should not be barriers to spiritual progress. The main deity, little Krishna, holds a butter churner or kadagolu. That's why you can see lots of kadagolu being sold in nearby shops. This temple also offers free daily meals to devotees and visitors called Anna Prasadam. Some people eat this food without using a plate. There is a belief that eating the Prasad on the floor can fulfill their wishes. Unfortunately, video/photography inside the temple is restricted, so I can't show you its interior. However, there's another beautiful place I'd like to share – the goshala of this temple. It's one of my favorite places, and you can also feed the cows there. The temple also features a beautiful pond, known as Madhwa Sarovar, a rectangular-shaped water body within the temple complex. I would say this place is filled with spiritual energy. Udupi Shree Krishna Matha is situated in Udupi City in Karnataka, India. The nearest airport is Mangalore airport.
