22nd EPISODE - June 13, 1976 - 2 COMPLETE EDITIONS - 50TH ANNIVERSARY IN DEPTH - 94'' On June 13, 1976, at 10:00 PM, the 22nd episode of a series that has marked television history, "In Depth," aired on RTVE's Channel 2. This edition contains two complete episodes of programs that aired on June 13, 1976: Nobel Prize Winner Severo Ochoa The scientist Severo Ochoa (1905-1993) describes his early years: "I had two great passions: mechanics and the natural sciences," his relationship with chance: "I believe very little in things that are not tangible, but I do believe in luck," his departure from Spain at the beginning of the Civil War, his training in Germany and England, his thirty-four years in New York, where he worked primarily on nucleic acids and the genetic code: "It is possible to vary the genetic message; it is extraordinary." He also refers to his studies on cancer: "The tumor cell is immortal, under experimental conditions." The sheer volume of information he provides, which the program director is aware of, astonishes the Nobel laureate: "You know more about my life than I do." The artist JOAN PONÇ Joan Ponç (1927-1984) dazzles in his biographical explanations and his relationship with painting, always marked by mystery and magic: "The fact that I'm neither dead nor mad is a magical act… Magic is a constant in my life." He speaks of his relationship with Brossa, with whom he founded the magazines Algol and later Dau al Set, which Cuixart and Tàpies joined. He describes a seemingly erratic trajectory, from his disappointment in Paris to his experience in Brazil, a country where he spent six years without exhibiting a single painting and "where I understood that the way to survive was by teaching." "I am going to die in Spain," was his decision after receiving some incorrect test results, then he began a journey through several places around the Pyrenees with a special memory of Cadaqués and Marcel Duchamp "until I found a house destroyed by lightning" in La Roca, Camprodon.
