Pleistocene history in an Arkansas Cave, Part I: The geologic setting of Cecil Cove and Fitton Cave

We explore the diverse geologic setting of the Ozarks' Cecil Cove, home to Arkansas' longest cave, including bluffs and waterfalls rooted in resistant sandstone, landslides and slumps forming on unstable shale, and sinkholes and caves developed in karst-prone limestone. You can hike portions of this area within the National Park Service's Buffalo National River.
