Module 2, Unit 1 — Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Standards and Communication Protocols

This video was produced when the laboratory operated as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The laboratory is now the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR). This lecture is one unit in a series presented in a 2021 virtual course, hosted by the USAID and NREL Advanced Energy Partnership for Asia, on electric vehicle deployment fundamentals for Southeast Asia. This lecture covers the basic structure of charging standards; common codes; communications (across different charging networks) and interoperability protocols for seamless connectivity; and synergies with the grid as well as other EV ecosystem stakeholders (e.g. buildings, EVSE manufacturers, urban planners).
