[2026 별꼴학교] 아름다운 것 with 발달장애청년허브 사부작, 삼달다방

In Samdal-ri, where we live, there is another place that sparkles just like our Byeolkkol. It is ‘Samdal Dabang.’ At Samdal Dabang, a ‘traveler’s cultural space’ where people from all walks of life mingle, the Byeolkkol friends spent a beautiful time together dancing the Hula, a dance of peace, with the people from the Developmental Disability Youth Hub ‘Sabujak’ who had come from Seoul. - We visited Samdal Dabang. Samdal Dabang is located just a five-minute drive from Byeolkkol. It was here that we met with the Developmental Disability Youth Hub ‘Sabujak.’ I looked around Samdal Dabang while preparing for the performance. From the entrance to every corner, it was filled with beautiful hearts. The slogans calling for democracy and equality posted all around instilled a warm strength in me. I realized that although we live in a society of severe discrimination, a cold society cannot cut off the sprouts of warmth. Just as I was reflecting on these thoughts, the Sabujak people arrived, and we welcomed each other. Unlike us, who drove just five minutes away, Sabujak said they flew from Seoul at 8 a.m. and traveled diligently all the way to Samdal-ri, Jeju Island. I was grateful for their dedication in coming all the way here just to connect with us. First, we opened the day with a beautiful performance we had prepared. We played songs by the band The Beach Boys. The Beach Boys' music immediately got everyone dancing along. Everyone responded and enjoyed themselves, creating a truly great atmosphere. When it wasn't my turn, I excitedly enjoyed my friends' performances with the crowd. Everyone was so hyped up that they danced wildly. Before we knew it, our performance was over, and finally, we were able to learn the hula dance prepared by Sabujak. We learned "You Are My Sunshine," a song everyone knows, and before we danced, they handed out hula skirts and flower hairpins. We put on the outfits and followed the teacher, dancing the hula slowly. Dancing the hula with bare feet, stepping lightly on the ground, made me feel incredibly at ease. It was the first time I realized that hula is such a positive dance. After a practice run, we went outside to bask in the real sunshine and danced the hula under the sun. After we finished dancing, we all enjoyed some refreshing fruit punch together. The fruit punch after dancing the hula was truly indescribable. It was a day that warmed us from heart to body!
