[41st Arimatsu Shibori Festival] Held for two days, June 7th and 8th, in Arimatsu, Midori Ward, Nagoya City. We left Arimatsu Station and took both the right and left courses. This time, it was a three-minute walk across the railroad crossing from Arimatsu Station to the Aeon Mall. The shop is usually closed, and is only open for the annual Shibori Festival. We visited Zhang Zheng. [Zhang Zheng] "Mameshibori" is a type of shibori with countless regularly-spaced polka dots. It is a rare item that is now produced only here in Japan, at Zhang Zheng. Each of these small circles has a unique expression, a charming quality that can only be achieved through handcrafting. We heard valuable stories about the long journey to reviving mameshibori, which ceased production after the war, and the ongoing pursuit of this art.
